Le Centre Hospitalier Charles Perrens est un établissement Public de santé doté de la personnalité morale et sous tutelle de l’État représenté par l’Agence Régionale de Santé. Comme tous les hôpitaux publics, il est chargé d’une mission de service public en matière de diagnostic, de soins, d’enseignement et de recherche. Avec la sectorisation psychiatrique dont il a reçu en 1986 toute la responsabilité administrative et financière, ses missions s’étendent de la prévention à la postcure des maladies mentales.
